“ Food quality / price (value) rating 9.5. The atmosphere is eclectic "burger bar" with a diverse and original menu created by the owner, Mandy. Mandy is a hands-on owner and also owns a large successful deli a couple blocks away where alcohol os also served.. The crowd is local and friendly. Service was excellent, the food was prepared properly, and priced right. They have a Happy Hour Monday through Friday 3:00 to 6:00. I had the "Fun Guy" burger, mushrooms, onion, bacon bits, Swiss cheese, and Angus beef. It was cooked as requested and served with a dill slice and HOMEMADE POTATO CHIPS!!! The wife had the 'Beet This" salad diced beets, mixed greens, dried cherries, goat cheese and pumpkin seeds. A inique and delectable combination. They offer a limited but well chosen draught beer selection, and tender generous pours of wine and liquor. We split a dessert of Limoncello Vale that was fresh baked, served with a raspberry drizzle and whipped cream. I would come here twice a week if I lived in the area. ”
“ Met so many awesome people who were hiking the Appalachian Trail! The staff was super friendly, and the whole place had a fun, laid-back vibe. The food was quick, easy, and hit the spot—I had the Skipping Stones and a burger, and enjoyed it all outside. Great stop if you're passing through! ”
“ Every single detail here was perfect. They got our orders perfect (there were a couple of special requests). The waitress was super friendly and very efficient. They gave us our own pitcher of water (why doesn’t everyone do this?). I have never had service this good before. And the food was incredible. Don’t hesitate - just go. ”
“ Our first visit here as well wrapped up our trip from Orange, VA to find thrift/antique treasures. The restaurant is clean and we were greeted immediately by the bartender and then our waitress. She got us our menus and took our drink orders. We got the cheese curds which were outstanding. I don't know what they season them with, but I am telling you the flavor was amazing. I got the Waynesboro Burger and it was cooked to my liking (which is rare most restaurants miss the mark). Hubs got The Western burger which was equally incredible. The accompanying chips are homemade. This place was hopping at lunch and the waitress and the bartender were dashing between taking orders and delivering food to tables with never missing to ask their patrons if all was good and if they needed anything. Hubs and I are super picky and big foodies. We were pleasantly surprised by the superior quality of everything The River has to offer. They had an extensive beer and spirits menu as well. You will not be disappointed. ”
“ I asked if they made a bloody Mary, and she had a little smile as she said yes. It was amazing and I chuckled when I remarked my partner was a vegetarian so hold the meat. We had food and bloodys and it was a great Sunday afternoon with a friend. The server/owner was the best. ”

Went in on a Sunday afternoon & the place was full w/ a waiting list but we didn’t have to wait long for a few seats to open up at the bar. Bartender Brandon was attentive & had a friendly personality that was welcoming. The Bloody Mary was amazing & just the right amount of spice. The Bavarian pretzel, brushed w/ melted butter makes it extra delicious. “Waynesburger” was cooked perfectly & love the seasoned fries. Great place for a great burger & beer or for a nice weekend date night or evening w/ friends/family. ”
“ This is one of the best places to have a meal and relax. The food is amazing with so many options how you want it done, it is perfect if you are a true carnivore or vegan. Food allergies are paid attention to as well. Great beer selection with a well stocked bar. Knowledgeable staff to help with any questions is great. The bar is beautiful as is the entire building. There are high top tables and booths as well as front window seating. In the warmer weather you can also sit outside. I can't say enough how great this place really is. ”
